ABOUT ME

KEEGAN ROGERS

I am a Counselling Psychologist with deep empathy and compassion for those struggling to maintain sound mental health. It is my passion to develop effective strategies for each client to manage their mental health, and to support and inspire others to be all that they are capable of being. It is a great honour and privilege to use my skills to help change lives.

Besides my love for my profession, I also love all sports, working with children and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I completed an Undergraduate degree in Sports Psychology, followed by an Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Johannesburg, after which I obtained my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Fort Hare University.

After completing my academic journey in the Eastern Cape, I returned to Johannesburg and completed my Internship at PsyCaD (Psychological Services and Career Development) at the University of Johannesburg.

I work from my practice in Glenvista, where a calm, safe and welcoming environment has been created, and where I prioritise each client as we work through their experiences and engage in therapy processes.

I continue to focus on new developments in the field of psychology and upskill myself through lifelong learning, which ensures that I provide the best assistance possible to all my clients.

I have a special interest in neurodiversity, which focusses on brain differences. I am interested in working on therapies that assist neurodivergent clients to understand that they have differences, not deficits, and formulating methods to manage their differences, with special focus on areas such as sociability, learning, attention, mood and other mental functions.

I believe that it is vital in our modern world to bring awareness to young professionals about their mental health, and as such, I actively participate in programmes that aim to achieve this. This is a Non-Discrimination Practice and everyone is welcome!

MY THEORETICAL APPROACH

The therapeutic process is as distinct as each person or couple, and therefore I take the approach that each therapeutic journey should be tailor-made to suit the needs of the individual client.

The development of individual therapeutic approaches is based on and guided by techniques such as:

• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
A talking therapy that helps to manage problems by changing ways of thinking and behaving

• Narrative Therapy

A therapy that aims to separate the individual from the problem and thus assisting the client to externalise, rather than internalise their challenges

• Gestalt Therapy

A therapy that increases the client’s awareness and self-direction, focussing on present rather than past experiences, leading to self-trust and acceptance

• Play Therapy

A therapy that helps children in expressing or communicating their feelings

SPECIAL INTERESTS
